Which Apple is the Healthiest?
An apple a day keeps the doctor away. But is there one apple that is healthier than all the rest?
Well yes, according to researchers at The University of Western Australia (UWA) and the Department of Agriculture and Food who did a study on this very subject.
You see, apples are rich in flavonoids. Among the many benefits attributed to flavonoids are reduced risk of cancer, heart disease, asthma, and stroke.
So which apple is highest in flavonoids?
Well, out of over 30 varieties tested, the researchers found that the Pink Lady variety (also known as the Cripps Pink) had the highest level of flavonoid. This sweet/sour apple is delicious in apple sauce, pies or eaten raw.
So next time you’re at the grocery store, think pink!
